Diversity drives innovation. Yet many tech workers in the LatinX community are burdened with the responsibility of assimilation if they are to succeed in corporate America. These two ideas are incongruous–why minimize the very differences that can lead to a more welcoming culture while also driving the business forward?
As Movable Ink has grown into an increasingly global company, the LatinX community feels enlivened to spotlight our own group by digging into our culture and elevating our experiences. For diversity, equity, and inclusion to truly have a fundamental role in company culture, it must be carried out daily by Inkers committed to embracing their differences and sharing their heritage.
That being said, we are excited to announce the inauguration of LatINK. Our mission is to promote, educate, and elevate LatinX representation across the diaspora. Through a blend of educational and cultural events, our goal is to share with fellow Inkers the richness of our diversity.
LatINK is excited to foster continual learning and philanthropy. Most of our community has shared similar struggles and seen first-hand the lack of opportunities our previous generations experienced. Because of this, we feel a strong desire to impact underserved communities and offer opportunities to develop our own learning and professional skills.
There is strength in connecting through our similarities and differences. Being LatinX has a different meaning for every member, and understanding what unites us will inevitably strengthen us as a community. This is what LatINK seeks to achieve.
